dinos22 tested Nvidia’s latest motherboard recently, namely, 790i Ultra SLI chipset with some amazing results. Nvidia worked very hard to improve FSB OC capabilities.
Test Configuration:
Nvidia Reference Board 790i Ultra SLI
(stock board, no mods)
Intel Core2 Duo E8500 Q745A703
(1.74-1.81vcore used)
2GB DDR3 Corsair Dominators PC14400
(1.96vdimm DMM measured)
PCI Express Nvidia 8800GT
620W Corsair PSU
kingpin F1 Extreme Edition Solid copper CPU LN2 Pot
Big mamma 35L LN2 Dewar
80GB SATA Hard Drive
Windows XP Pro 32bit
Looks like 5.7GHz (600MHz FSB) easy & with a bit of tweaking and wresting 5.8GHz may be possible. These are just some sneak peak results. More information and benchmark results will follow once embargo lifts later this month.
5.8GHz validation = 611MHz FSB >> straight boot from bios

stability wasn’t there @5.8GHz because the CPU had a nasty cold bug. CPU needed to boot at -118C and keep it there for 1M superpi….anything more or less and i’d lose it heheh (lucky this F1EE pot can handle temps so well) but with a bit of work i should be able to get this workable i have some things to try

Hope you like what you see
